Experimenting with Cyanotypes
As part of a project I am working on, I want to develop some of the images as cyanotypes. I’ve never done this before so before trying the “real” thing I’ve been playing with some test prints. For this, I opted for a wet cyanotype process, mainly because it was unextectedly sunny today and I didn’t mant to wait for paper to dry in the dark before getting going. YouTube is an amazing source of how to videos and I am very grateful particularly to stephen mcnally and the Elk Rapids District Library for their inspirational tutorials.
Making cyanotpyes is a tricky process as so much can vary; the amount of sun, strength and amount of chemicals on the paper, type of paper, things you add, time given to develop etc. However after a couple of attempts I managed to create an image which I like a lot. Now all I have to do is repeat the process. And, work out how best to flatten the (rather wavy) image for presentation.
